The now increasingly lengthy saga of the attempts by The Scottish Government to introduce a Minimum Unit Price for alcohol has taken its next step.

The Government in Scotland first introduced legislation concerning the issue two years ago but this has been subject to various legal challenges.

In the latest development the matter has been referred to the Court of Justice of the European Union by the Judge hearing an appeal in the Court of Session in Edinburgh launched by the Scottish Whisky Association.

This will come as no surprise to those who have followed the issue since it was first raised.
